The aims of JennCria Ranch are to focus on the continual improvement of alpacas in areas such as conformation, fine fleece and increasing overall shear weight. To accomplish this we are participating in the “Ideal Alpaca Community”, a co-op of like minded breeders with national herd improvement and marketing as their focus.
We are alpaca breeders; Not alpaca manufacturers!
The following is an excerpt from the “Ideal Alpaca Studmaster catalogue.” The Ideal Alpaca Community is a group of breeders who believe in the ultimate potential of the alpaca. Our collective purpose is to raise genetically superior alpacas that produce high volumes of fleece.

Through time, education, persistence, and the genetic improvement of our herd; JennCria Ranch hopes to benefit the alpaca with a healthier, longer, and more productive lifecycle.
We are going to try; when possible, an all natural approach to treat our alpacas. We will be using Young Living Essential Oils and products. Click here for more info or to order products.
These are the “Ideal Alpaca” Breeding Principles:

- Breed standards are an integral part of defining elite alpacas.
- Each breeder should have a clear view of the Ideal Alpaca type.
- The alpacas' primary purpose is as a fleece animal. The ultimate value of the breed is based on the inherent genetic ability of the alpaca to produce a fine, luxurious fleece for use in high fashion garments.
- That by improving the alpaca to their full genetic potential and making them a more productive fiber-bearing animal, the breed will be more valuable to their shepherds and be better cared for over time.
|
- A thorough knowledge of bloodlines, classic livestock breeding theory, and an understanding of genetic selection techniques are prerequisites of success in the alpaca market.
- The transparent recording of careful fleece measurements is the key to identifying genetically superior breeding stock.
- That showing alpacas in halter classes and promoting the results leads to credibility and sales in the alpaca community. That showing the progeny of our Studmaster males will create sales opportunities for each of the Ideal Alpaca community members.
- Alpaca herds must be managed efficiently and consistently to produce maximum profit.

Studmaster Males
The Studmaster males have been initially selected based on their pedigrees, performance, and their progeny. These elite animals are owned by participating IAC members.
The Studmaster males form the foundation of the sire reference system. Each will be profiled by a sire summary. Over time, each male’s progeny will define his potential. Some will turn out to be better than others. Some will be superior for one trait, but not another. As the EPD's accumulate, the picture will become clear.
